A tenth edition of the Madrid Gallery Weekend will take place from September 12 to 15. More than 100 artists, 49 galleries, performances, talks, meetings with artists among the novelties of this edition.
The city of Madrid is preparing for the most important cultural event after summer and, for four days, it will become the capital of European art with the celebration of the 10th anniversary of Opening Madrid Gallery Weekend , which will take place from Thursday 12 to Sunday 15 of September.
Opening Madrid Gallery Weekend annually marks the start of the new exhibition season and aims to encourage visits to the galleries as another cultural option, free and open to the public throughout the year. At the simultaneous inauguration of the 49 galleries - which will present the work of more than 100 artists - they join, offering guided tours, the main institutions and art centers of the capital such as the Reina Sofía Museum , the Thyssen-Bornemisza National Museum , the Sala Alcalá 31 , the Dos de Mayo Art Center , the Lázaro Galdiano Museum and Casa Árabe .

The opening shot of the Madrid Gallery Weekend Opening begins on Thursday, September 12 with the Openings, simultaneous openings in each of the galleries and open to the public from 5pm to 10pm. The 49 galleries will show their exhibition proposal of the season, which includes a wide range of disciplines: painting, photography, sculpture, video art, installation, etc. and that range from the avant-garde to contemporary art of both recognized teachers and emerging young talents.

As the main novelty of this tenth edition of the Madrid Gallery Weekend Opening , the Acts Program will be held , in which each participating gallery will propose an event: performance, book launch, talks, meetings with artists ... whose objective is to promote sensitivity for Art in citizens and bring it closer to the street.

In addition, in this edition of Apertura Madrid Gallery Weekend , the ARCO Gallery Walkis expanded , free guided tours that will tour the neighborhoods where most of the city's galleries are concentrated. The tours will take place in 7 different visits distributed between September 13, 14, 20 and 21. On Saturday, as every year, all galleries will offer a free brunch for the entire public.
And as the final opening of the Madrid Gallery Weekend , on Sunday, the “Close-up” will be held . From the galleries to the National Museum Thyssen-Bornemisza ” , which will consist of a conference open to the public given by Guillermo Solana , artistic director of the museum. Later you can visit the Karl Blossfeld exhibition organized by LOEWE Perfumes .
