Incorporating a playful element to Toronto’s Interior Design show, Philippe Malouin treats show goers to a swing-set installation, created in partnership with surface specialists Caesarstone. Swings is a circular structure composed of 12 swings that toy with the idea of merging play and contemporary art. Opting for the use of Caesarstone’s Supernatural Series, the swings are crafted from sturdy materials including picks from the Concrete series, in a selection of tones and textures, hung from a circular standing structure. Malouin encourages people to get familiar with the installation and explore the materials used, while simultaneously taking a trip down memory lane to the care-free childhood years of playing in the school yard. The minimalist, monolithic structure feels sculptural and adult while at the same time referencing childhood memories of swinging.     |
